Methylenebis(phenyl isocyanate), commonly known as MDI (Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate), CAS: 101-68-8, molecular formula C₁₅H₁₀N₂O₂. It is a white to light-yellow solid at room temperature with a pungent odor, melting point around 38°C, and contains highly reactive -NCO groups that react readily with water. Classified as an organic chemical raw material and aromatic isocyanate, it is the core monomer for polyurethane (PU) production, widely used in PU foams, elastomers, coatings, adhesives, synthetic leather and spandex fibers.
